EnvironmentAL POLICY

At Carbon8 we are committed to minimising the environmental impacts of our printing, finishing, mailing and business practices and recognise our responsibility, both as individuals and as a company, to implement internal and external policies that ensure a sustainable future.

Both of our HP Indigo digital printing presses (12000 and 7900) are the latest and most up to date version of each of their platforms so they carry all the latest technology available in the market. They recycle imaging oil and water, do not use metal plates, film or chemicals and do not require lengthy make-ready processes compared to that of traditional printing presses. Both presses hold an Intertek Green Leaf verification mark, an independent verification of the environmental specifics of the machinery.

Staying true to our word Carbon8 offer a wide array of recycled paper stocks, energy efficient machinery, our energy supplier is Momentum Energy who being Tasmanian source most of their electricity from sustainable sources such as hydro. Further to this, our brand new factory was purpose built with all LED lighting, the latest electrical circuitry and power metering to minimise waste and so that we can monitor by the second our energy usage. We have also installed a power factor correction system that ensures that we get the maximum level of efficiency out of the electricity we draw from the grid. We further minimise all our waste by separating into 4 streams, including collecting all metal, deposit cans and bottles, polypropylene sheets, co-mingled waste and separate paper into 3 sub-streams of clean white, grey/brown/coloured packaging papers and mixed paper.

Who Gives a Crap? Well we do! We're all about paper, but we're talking about paper of a more important kind and that's why we have switched to Who Gives A Crap recycled toilet paper made from 100% recycled fibres without any chlorine, dyes, weird perfumes or itchy chemicals. On top of this the company donates 50% of the profits to WaterAid to help build toilets in the developing world. Good for your bum and good for the environment, that's a win win in our books.

Offer advice to customers on more sustainable “Green” alternatives.
Have the ability to print onto 100% recycled papers as well as paper alternatives such as synthetic papers.
Commit to comply with all relevant environmental regulations to which we subscribe.
Promote a “Green” attitude amongst staff, encouraging them to take the initiative on any environmental issues.
Manage all operations to ensure that environmental damage is prevented.
Continually evolve our environmental policy to improve our green credentials.
Work with governing and regulatory bodies to maintain a responsible chain of custody.
Choose only mixed source FSC and Iso 14001 Environmentally rated papers for our readily available house stocks. These include Splendorgel, Silk HD and Pacesetter laser.
Aim to extend the lifespan of any suitable waste material as packaging.
